PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man died after he crashed into a tree and several parked cars in a series of collisions throughout Northeast Philadelphia early Tuesday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m. in the Crescentville neighborhood, 53-year-old Francisco Rosario was driving his pick-up truck on the wrong side of Castor Avenue when he struck a tree, according to police.

Then, he drove off and headed toward the Frankford neighborhood, where he crashed into parked cars on Adams Avenue, near Wingohocking Street, officials said. He finally came to a stop about a mile down the road at the intersection of Tackawanna and Kinsey streets.

Police said Rosario walked out of his truck, collapsed on the ground, and became unconscious. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

His daughter, Elizabeth, said they saw surveillance video showing a car pulling up to his truck and a group of people getting out and arguing with him.

She said one of the people punched him.

"They weren't physically mad. And then the guy just punched him out of nowhere. And then, you know, I guess a hard punch, a hard fall, and he cracked his head open, and he died," she said.

Officials did not say if anyone else was hurt. Authorities are investigating.
