TINICUM TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Delaware County are investigating the pursuit of a stolen car that ended when the driver was killed in a violent crash.
It was around 5 p.m. on Thursday when Eddystone Borough police say they followed a car that was reported stolen. That driver did not stop and led cops out of Eddystone and into Tinicum Township.
According to authorities, the driver slammed into another car at the intersection of Industrial Highway and Wanamaker Avenue, off of I-95.
"I was actually sitting in my car, getting ready to pull out and heard this screeching sound behind me and this loud crash in the corner. Probably five or six cop cars came whizzing by," resident George Keighton told NBC10.
"I'm a little shaken up for sure because this just happened feet away from where I was working."
The cars were smashed, with debris scattered all over the road. Police say the driver of the stolen car died. That person hasn't been publicly identified. The driver in the other car was taken to a hospital and their condition hasn't been released.
