EVESHAM TWP, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Evesham Township police are asking for help in identifying a suspect in a home invasion on Dana Road in the Willow Ridge Developmenrt on Thursday, Feb. 27. Police are still looking for the man since he evaded arrest that night.
“It was determined that the suspect began a physical altercation with the homeowner in front of the residence, which then led inside the garage area and then inside the residence itself,” acting Police Chief Tom Reinholt explained. “The suspect then forced the victim in the home using a boxcutter-style knife. The suspect threatened the victim and his wife with the knife and attempted to bind them with rope.”
But Reinholt says neighbors had called 911 when they heard a scuffle outside, and Evesham patrol officers were at the home within minutes. The homeowner answered the door and told arriving officers that an unknown man, armed with a knife, had entered their home to rob them but fled out the rear door as police arrived.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt, say police.
“Evesham officers quickly saturated the area,” said Reinholt. “A K-9 unit arrived on location and was utilized to try to track the suspect.”
Reinholt says the trial ended in the neighborhood at the spot where, police believe, the suspect got into a “getaway” car and fled the area. The car, seen briefly on surveillance video, was described as a white, four-door sedan. The make and model of the car are unknown.
Police do not have a strong description of the suspect. He was described as young, approximately 5’11”, and wearing dark clothing and a ski mask. Investigators are looking for neighbors with doorbell camera video from that night so they can get a better look at him.
The suspect fled by way of Buckley Lane onto Clinton Lane and then onto Willow Ridge Road, according to police.
