WARRINGTON, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Volunteers in Bucks County are preparing thousands of pounds of holiday dinners to donate to families in need, as organizers say the need for food assistance is increasing.

“I always say, fortunately, FEAST is growing, [and] unfortunately, FEAST is growing,” said John Clauss, founder of Feeding Everyone at Special Times, or FEAST.

The organization is delivering its 100,000th meal since it started more than 10 years ago — which, Clauss said, is an unfortunate sign that food insecurity is a persistent problem.

“We started with 100 meals in 2012. Now, we do over 5,000 meals an event. And we’re breaking 100,000, so there’s obviously a need,” he said. “We can’t do it without the help of other people.”

Donations are the most valuable way to help FEAST. The money goes toward packing holiday meals with all the trimmings.

“A typical Thanksgiving and Christmas meal is turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade stuffing, green bean casserole, fresh bread from Liscio’s, a pie, gravy, cranberry.”

These meals are going to families in Montgomery and Bucks counties who registered online to receive the food. For more information, visit feastcharitable.org.
