UPDATED: 2 dead, 8 others hurt after 4 Friday shootings in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police said that two people have died, and eight others have been hospitalized after being shot in four incidents in Philadelphia Friday.

Authorities said the first incident, where five people were shot, happened just after 2:45 p.m. Friday near the corner of 77th and Ogontz avenues.


A 30-year-old man was shot three times including once to the face, according to police. He was transported to Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 6 p.m.

Police said the other four victims were all listed in stable condition. They include a 61-year-old woman who was shot in the left foot, a 30-year-old man who was grazed in the shoulder, a 47-year-old man who was shot in the shoulder and back, and a 25-year-old woman who was grazed in the left leg.

There was no initial arrest, and no weapons were found at the scene, according to police.

The triple shooting happened just before 7 p.m. near the corner of North Second Street and West Duncannon Avenue.

Police said a 24-year-old man was shot twice, once in the right leg and again in the right foot. Police took him to the hospital.

A 37-year-old man was shot in the right leg, while a 33-year-old man was wounded in the left foot and grazed in the left thigh, according to authorities. Those victims drove themselves to the hospitals in their own vehicles after being shot.

All three victims were listed in stable condition.

Just after 9 p.m., according to police, a 55-year-old woman was shot in the left ear during a robbery near the corner of East Westmoreland and H Streets, in the Kensington area. She was taken to Temple Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

A little over a half-hour later, police said a 21-year-old man was shot 15 times on North Hollywood Street near 29th Street in the city's Strawberry Mansion section. He was taken by police to Temple Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police said they initially did not make any arrests or recover any weapons.
