Flashpoint: After the Capitol, the future of the GOP; Black Music City Project

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This weekend on Flashpoint, host Cherri Gregg asks the burning questions about the future of the Republican Party.

Last week, thousands of President Donald Trump supporters, encouraged by the president, violently stormed the U.S. Capitol. Five people died in what many are characterizing as open insurrection against the United States government. Democrats and a number of Republicans are calling for Trump to resign or be removed.


Now there is a growing effort to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time during his final days in office. What is the impact on the GOP? What does the party look like without Trump?

Rina Shah, a national GOP strategist who founded Republican Women for Biden and is on the leadership team of Lincoln Women Coalition joins Charlie Gerow, a Pennsylvania GOP analyst and CEO of Quantum Communications, and Dr. William Rosenberg, political science professor at Drexel University.

The Patriot Home Care Changemaker of the week is the Black Music City Project. In order to honor Philadelphia's rich Black music history, Philadelphia public music radio stations WXPN-FM and WRTI-FM, and REC Philly are working together to support this generation's creatives. Artists with ideas that highlight the city's Black music can apply for a grant of up to $3500. Applications are due January 25.
