PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This weekend on Flashpoint, host Cherri Gregg asks the burning questions about interracial marriage.

Earlier this month, an interracial couple reported that they were attacked in North Philadelphia. They told their story to CBS3 Eyewitness News, with a white woman reporting that she was beaten by a Black woman for dating a Black man.

How far has America come? A recent Pew study shows that less than 40% of Americans approve of interracial marriage, yet the number of interracial relationships are at an all-time high. In a year of racial reckoning, how has society shifted when it comes to love across color lines?

Farrah Parkes and Brad Linder, an interracial couple and producers of The Loving Project discuss. Their series of podcasts, released in 2017, looks at interracial love through the eyes of more than two dozen couples.

Then, our newsmaker of the week is the Philadelphia School District plan to reopen schools for some in-person learning begining February 22.  The plan has faced major pushback from the teachers' union, as well as from some parents and education advocates.

However, others say it's time to get kids back to schools, especially the youngest learners. Sandra Dungee Glenn, a member of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education provides expertise on this subject, as well as possible solutions.

Finally, the Patriot Homecare Changemaker of the week is Dr. Christine Meyer, founder of Pa. COVID Vaccine Matchmaker. The Facebook group links seniors in need of a coronavirus vaccine to tech-savvy individuals who scour websites of pharmacies and county vaccination sites to find them appointments.
