PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There’s now a $2,000 reward for information leading to the recapture of the man who escaped from a Philadelphia prison last week.
The U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force is asking for help from the public to locate Gino Hagenkotter, 34, who was incarcerated at Riverside Correctional Facility. He is still on the run after evading a prison officer during a lavatory break last week Thursday around noon.
He was last seen walking north on the 8400 block of Hegerman Street toward Blakiston Street in Holmesburg, wearing dark-colored pants and a white t-shirt. The United States Marshals Service on Monday released a short video showing Hagenkotter about 10 minutes after his escape.
Hagenkotter is a white male, about 5 1/2 feet tall and 160 lbs. with dark, short hair. He has a tattoo on his right forearm, an image of a dagger piercing a heart, superimposed on a flower, with the words "Love is Pain" on a ribbon winding around the image.
His last known address was in the 7700 block of Cottage Street in Philadelphia.
Police say he doesn’t have a history of violence but that anyone who sees him should stay clear of him and call 911. Anyone with information about where he may be is encouraged to call the U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia Tipline at 866-865-8477 or to submit a tip online at usmarshals.gov.
Authorities warn anyone who is helping the escapee will be criminally charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Hagenkotter is the fourth prisoner to break free from a Philadelphia jail this year.
