NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Outdoor dining is here to stay in New Jersey.

Gov. Phil Murphy signed into law Monday a bill that makes permanent some of the outdoor accommodations that became popular during COVID-19 restrictions on indoor seating capacity.

This law allows for continued use of tents, canopies, umbrellas, and outdoor tables. It also provides the annual permitting necessary for some liquor licenses, rather than the previous temporary permits.

Restaurant industry advocates celebrated the bill signing, saying it will help maintain vibrant communities and benefit local economies.
