PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Residents of a quiet Bucks County neighborhood were woken up by gunfire during an armed car burglary.
It happened early Friday morning on Colonial Drive in Croydon. Police said car thieves shot at someone who tried to stop them from stealing his vehicle.
“His statement to police was that he saw on the Ring camera that one of them appeared to be armed, so he retrieved his firearm as well,” said Bristol Township Police Lt. Mark Titus.
He said the man did not shoot at the thieves. They got away, but they came back minutes later and started shooting at the man’s house.
Bullets hit at least two houses, but no one was hurt.
While the thieves didn’t get that car, they did nab Kyle Brooks’ brand-new truck. He bought it just days ago.
“Who cares about a vehicle?” he told NBC10. “You can have it. But you’re gonna let shots off in a residential neighborhood, no regard for human life? It’s sad; it’s a shame.”
Brooks said he needs the truck for his roofing and siding business. There were tools, valuable equipment and paperwork inside.
Police said the thieves also stole a minivan.
