2 dead, 3 hurt after triple, double shootings in North, Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two men are dead and three are injured following a pair of shootings within 45 minutes of each other in North and Northeast Philadelphia.

Police said that at about 5:35 p.m. Wednesday night near the corner of Carlisle and Bristol streets in Hunting Park, a 23-year-old man was shot in the head, chest, arm and thigh. He was taken to the hospital where he died about a half hour later.

The two other men with the 23-year-old were in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and were listed in stable condition.

Then just before 6:20 p.m., a double shooting happened near the corner of Barnett and Hawthorne streets in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia.

One man whose age was initially unknown was shot twice in both his head and back, then once in the arm and armpit. He succumbed to his injuries just after 6:30 p.m.

According to authorities, two unidentified men shot him. There was a second man, 23, who was also shot. He suffered from a graze wound that was treated on the scene.

There were no initial arrests in the triple shooting or double shooting, and no weapons were at first recovered.
