PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Making a New Year’s resolution can be a great thing. After all, the new year offers a sense of optimism to make important changes.

When it comes to health, it is an opportunity to eat healthier, exercise more and eliminate all sorts of negative habits. Many people are unable to keep their resolutions for more than a few days or weeks.

Experts at the American Medical Association have looked at the keys to success. Their biggest advice is to make small changes and celebrate wins.

Your goals should be realistic, and when it comes to lifestyle changes like diet and exercise, don’t try to do it all in a short period. Give yourself realistic goals and focus on what you can control.
