PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The husband of a nurse who was killed in last month’s nursing home explosion in Bucks County is suing the facility’s owner and PECO.

The suit accuses Bristol Health and Rehab Center of knowing about a gas leak and odor at the facility for “multiple hours, if not multiple days” before the explosion. PECO crews were at the facility a few hours before the explosion for reports of a gas odor.

David Ndegwa Mathenge filed this latest suit on behalf of his wife, 52-year-old Muthoni Nduthu, who was one of three people killed in the blast on Dec. 23. About 20 others were wounded.

At least six people who were injured in the blast have also filed lawsuits, claiming the facility’s negligence is to blame for their injuries.

PECO and Saber Healthcare Group, the facility’s owner, both said they are cooperating with the NTSB’s investigation and cannot comment on ongoing litigation.
