Police: ICE agent fires shots after being struck by van in NJ

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Law enforcement officers in Ocean County, New Jersey, are looking for the driver of a van after they allegedly struck an ICE agent who was attempting to make an arrest Monday morning.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. in Manahawkin along Route 72, the road that leads to Long Beach Island.


Police said ICE agents were trying to apprehend a suspect when the individual fled in a van and hit an agent. The agent opened fire and struck the van.

The suspect drove away in the vehicle and remains at large.

The ICE agent reportedly sustained unknown injuries; it is unknown if the suspect was hit.

Stafford Township police said there is no risk to the general public, and they noted they were not assisting ICE during this operation.
