PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Inspector General's Office is investigating whether a SEPTA worker stole a gun from a passenger's backpack last week.
According to SEPTA, a passenger left a backpack on the Market-Frankford Line on Aug. 11, and it had a gun inside.
The person reported it to a patrol officer at 11th Street Station. The individual has a concealed carry permit.
Police found nothing on the train, but SEPTA said surveillance video shows a maintenance custodian picking up the backpack at the 69th Street terminal. However, a gun was never turned in.
The Office of Inspector General is leading the investigation because of the employee's alleged involvement.
