PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man has been charged with murder in the shooting of a 17-year-old last month in Southwest Philly.
Just before midnight on March 29, police found Jada Gray shot in the chest near South 70th Street and Elmwood Avenue. She died at the scene.
Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore says investigators found video of her meeting up with the suspect that night.
“We are investigating what their motive was for meeting up, but at some point, that confrontation developed into that male shooting her,” he said.
Vanore says a warrant was served Wednesday to search a nearby house, where they recovered multiple firearms and ammunition.
“One of those guns recovered, we now know, was the murder weapon in this case.”
Authorities arrested 19-year-old Kani Hunt Wednesday. On Thursday, they charged him with murder and related offenses.
