PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 13-year-old was shot in the city’s Kingsessing neighborhood Thursday night. Police are searching for the man they believe is responsible.
Officials say a 13-year-old was shot on the 2000 block of South 57th Street just before 7 p.m. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he’s listed in stable condition.
There is an active arrest warrant for 43-year-old Keith Holmes, of that same block. He is wanted for aggravated assault and gun charges.
Officials have not released details on what led to the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 215-686-8477.
The 13-year-old is one of more than two dozen teenagers shot this year. According to police, that number is half of what it was in 2021, when about 50 kids were shot. This time last year, nearly 30 kids were gunned down, which is about the same as 2020.
