MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a man they say was involved in a deadly home invasion in Lower Merion over the weekend.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele says around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, police got a call from 61-year-old Bernadette Gaudio, reporting that she and her son had been shot multiple times inside their Wynnewood house on Meredith Road after at least two people broke into the basement.

When officials arrived they found her son, 25-year-old Andrew Gaudio, dead. Steele says they believe he was shot in the back of the head while fighting back.

Bernadette was suffering from several gunshot wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Steele says doctors are optimistic about her recovery.

Steele says police were able to get an image of 42-year-old Kelvin Roberts driving a white car they believe was involved in the robbery and murder, and traced it to a home in West Philly associated with Roberts. That’s where they found a jewelry box that belonged to Bernadette.

Steele says Roberts, who has two outstanding warrants — one for theft in North Wales, and one for burglary in Philadelphia — is considered armed and dangerous.

Steele says the motive of the home invasion remains under investigation and at this point, they can’t say if it was random or if the home was targeted.

Lower Merion police Superintendent Andy Block says there are additional patrols in the neighborhood, both marked and unmarked police vehicles.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Lower Merion Township police at 610-645-6231 or the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610-226-5553.
