PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police in Montgomery County shot and killed a man who they say charged at them with a knife.

Authorities said it happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Ambler.

Officers encountered 43-year-old Aguilar Cholula near Forrest Avenue and School Street. Cholula was reportedly holding a large, butcher-style knife.

Police said they ordered Cholula to drop the knife, but he refused and charged at the officers. One officer deployed a Taser, but it was ineffective, officials said. Another officer then fired a single shot, striking Cholula.

Cholula was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

The shooting is under investigation.
