PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said Wednesday he wants city courts to hold the Philadelphia Police Department in contempt because, he said, they aren't handing over all information they have subpoenaed on individual officers.
Krasner said he has filed the motion in six cases.
Allegedly, his office receives redacted information from internal affairs investigations, and not complete documents.
He said that leaves the office "unable to adequately assess the allegations" against those officers.
In a brief statement, a spokesman for the department says they found out about the legal action on Tuesday, and had yet to receive the paperwork from the District Attorney.
"The PPD has yet to receive or review the motion announced today by the DAO, and only learned yesterday that its filing was forthcoming. Therefore, we cannot offer comment at this time," the statement read.
