PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — For more than 400,000 families, the development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccine can be bittersweet.
The number of family members and close friends of those who have died from COVID-19 in the past year is in the tens of millions. With every passing day, that number goes up.
For thousands, this Valentine's Day will be empty and lonely. For some, the idea of a vaccine is too little too late.
In addition, I have spoken with quite a few who feel guilty that they are being given protection that their loved one was not provided.
An important way to look at this is that by getting the vaccine, you are helping to slow down the pace of the spread of the virus and ultimately helping to save more lives. This can be seen as a selfless effort in memory of those lost.
