Elevated oxidative stress sounds like a highly technical phrase, and it is, but in the simplest terms, it is damage that can be done to our cells by high levels of toxins.
According to a report by JAMA Pediatrics, e-cigarette vaping can cause this damage in as little as one event. As the use continues, the damage worsens.
E-cigarettes are extremely popular among high school-age kids, with the number topping 30% in the United States. At a time when tobacco cigarette smoking was declining, e-cigs were marketed as colorful and high-tech alternatives.
What we are left with is a growing number of young people becoming victims of oxidative stress with the predicatable outcome of cardiovascular, neurologic and pulmonary diseases.
