KYW Medical Report: The keys to positive aging

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — How we accept getting older can determine how well we age.

Aging is inevitable, but many of the problems associated with aging can be delayed or even avoided by what’s called positive aging.

According to research, much of it has to do with attitude. One of the keys is managing stress. Relaxation techniques and meditation can help, as well as asking for help when you need it.

Another positive step to aging successfully is participating in activities that you enjoy. If you have hobbies, take the time to nurture them.

One more major point: It is not too late to change your attitude when you are older, but those who do the best actually start the process of positive aging in their 20s and 30s. The habits you develop when you are younger follow you later.
