PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It is important to understand that with COVID-19, major policy can and should change as we learn new things.

Lately there has been a great deal of talk surrounding whether children might be safer in school. Experts at CHOP have looked at information gained from Rhode Island, where there were fewer shutdowns, and looking at the data that brings up an important point.

In medicine, we learn from experience and there is nothing wrong with carefully looking at results and using them to help make decisions. This is a positive way to approach both preventive measures and treatment.

The medical community is facing COVID-19 in real time, and nothing should be set in stone, and everything should be explored.
