PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — La Salle University has become the latest local school to wipe out the outstanding balances of students having financial hardships because of COVID-19.
La Salle is using a half-million dollars of federal stimulus money to clear the debts of 111 students, including several who graduated in May. In a statement released Thursday, the university said it focused its support toward students with greater financial needs.
Community College of Philadelphia last week announced that it would pay off the balances of as many as 3,500 students.
