PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It’s been a busy couple weeks in Harrisburg, as Gov. Tom Wolf has not only signed several bills, he’s also using his veto pen.

Wolf signed the $40.8 billion budget. It increases education funding, particularly for the poorest districts, and also clears the way for college athletes in Pennsylvania to profit off their name, image, and likeness.

He also signed numerous other bills.

One lets medical marijuana card holders get more than one month supply at a time.

Another bill, now signed by Wolf, lifts a restriction that currently prevents law enforcement from sharing certain information with children and youth or foster programs.

The governor vetoed numerous bills as well, including a promised veto of the massive GOP-led election reform bill.

Wolf said it would infringe on voting rights with voter ID restrictions and limits on mail-in voting. Republican legislative leaders said it’s a missed opportunity to modernize and secure the process.

Wolf also vetoed a bill that would have limited the Department of Health’s response to a pandemic.

The governor said it would only make infectious diseases harder to fight. Republicans said the intent was to limit government intrusion.
