PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 71-year-old Franklin Township man has been charged with first-degree murder in the strangulation death of his 40-year-old disabled daughter.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office said Dennis Hall called 911 on June 11 to report his daughter, Devin Hall, was not breathing.
Officials said the man admitted to both emergency services and police officers who arrived at his East Avenue home that he had strangled the woman.
Officers attempted life-saving measures. The victim was taken to the hospital and placed on life support. She was taken off life support the next day and pronounced dead.
The medical examiner ruled the cause of death was asphyxiation, and the manner of death was homicide.
Following the autopsy results, charges were upgraded from attempted murder to murder.
Dennis Hall faces life in prison if convicted.
