PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A judge acquitted a Philadelphia man on Friday for the murder of a teenager last summer.
Raynald Francois, 31, was charged with murder and possession of an instrument in a crime, accused of shooting and killing 17-year-old Zaafir Jerry last June.
Jerry was fatally shot in the head, hip and back on Felton Street around the corner from the 62nd and Woodland Avenue trolley stop. Officers found 12 spent shell casings at the scene. Jerry was pronounced dead at the hospital just before noon.
After learning he was wanted for the murder, Francois turned himself in and has been in prison since last September.
He opted for a trial by judge, and Judge Scott O'Keefe found him not guilty on both charges. Francois will now be released from prison.
