PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Pittsburgh-area man is accused of draining a Montgomery County organization’s savings account while serving as volunteer treasurer, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars for his own personal use.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, 40-year-old Michael Fantuzzo, of Lower Burrell, stole $246,000 from the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association while serving as treasurer between 2021 and 2024, when the organization was headquartered in Plymouth Township.

The affidavit of probable cause says Fantuzzo used the money to pay off credit cards, family vacations to Disney World and the Outer Banks, a country club membership, property taxes, a limousine service, and a $10,000 hot tub installation in his home.

Court documents say the organization had $264,000 in a savings account in 2021, but by October 2024, the account was empty. The theft was discovered when a new board took over in 2025.

When confronted by the board, the complaint says Fantuzzo admitted to using funds for personal expenses, but he said it was by accident.

Fantuzzo is free on $100,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
