PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man got stuck in a wood chipper and died on Monday in Bucks County, officials said.

It happened around 4:45 p.m. at a home on Valley View Drive in Lower Southampton Township. Firefighters and medics were called to the home for a report of an industrial accident and found the 60-year-old man inside the machine.

“With Christmas coming up, it’s terrible,” said Lower Southampton Township Police Chief Ted Krimmel. “I can’t really imagine a worse thing to happen this time of year to a family.”

Several Philadelphia police officers were at the accident scene. Krimmel said they were there supporting one of the victim’s family members, who is a Philadelphia police officer.
