PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was shot and killed in broad daylight Saturday afternoon in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County. Authorities said the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with murder and robbery.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said the shooting happened just before 5 p.m. near the intersection of Ridge Pike and Crosskeys Road, near the Collegeville Italian Bakery.

The victim, 47-year-old Paul David Ley-Harris of Lower Providence, was shot multiple times. A 911 caller who witnessed the incident told police they saw the shooter fire four shots and then go through the victim’s pants pockets while he was on the ground.

Ley-Harris was transported to Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds and ruled it a homicide.

A nearby resident told reporters, “You want to be prepared and be alert and have situational awareness. Anything can happen anywhere at any time. And I think what happened today proved that to us. You might think this is maybe the area that things like that are less likely to happen, but like I said, anything can happen at any time.”

Police located the suspected shooter, Jordan Antrim, 32, of Philadelphia, just a few blocks from the scene. He was taken into custody without incident. Officers found a Glock handgun in the waistband of Antrim’s pants. While the gun was registered to him, authorities said he did not have a permit to carry it.

Investigators later learned that both men had been riding a SEPTA bus before the shooting. Surveillance video showed the two sitting across from each other, and Ley-Harris was seen going through his wallet in plain view of Antrim. When police found Ley-Harris after the shooting, his wallet was missing.

Antrim was charged with first, second, and third-degree murder, robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, and possessing an instrument of crime. He was denied bail and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 29.
