BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A 27-year-old was found guilty Wednesday of second-degree murder, convicted of setting a chain of events in motion that left a 25-year-old shot and killed, and his mother paralyzed when two men broke into their Lower Merion home in December.
Jeremy Fuentes broke into tears as the jury announced the verdict, guilty of all charges, including second-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence.
Prosecutor Ed McCann argued that while Fuentes wasn’t at the home on Meredith Road in Wynnewood on December 8th, he’s responsible for the murder of 25-year-old Andrew Gaudio, and the gunshot that paralyzed his mother, Bernadette Gaudio.
“He's the person who saw the guns and wanted them for profit reasons,” McCann said.
“So I think it was really important for us to convict him in this case, because, as I said, he's the one who was the moving party. This doesn't even happen without him starting the ball rolling.
On Dec. 6, Fuentes went to a home in Bucks County to give an estimate for a junk removal company. He saw a large gun safe and firearms, and immediately called his co-worker Charles Fulforth.
Fulforth and Kelvin Roberts confused the address and ended up at the Gaudio’s home by mistake, opening fire on the Gaudios while they were asleep.
Standing by his mother’s wheelchair, Andrew Gaudio’s brother Robert said gun violence is plaguing America, and he hopes lawmakers take action.
“None of that will bring my brother back or give my mother the ability to stand up and give me a hug,” he said. “But if we don't try, this could be you.”
