PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was killed and two others were wounded when dozens of shots were fired outside a Popeyes fast food restaurant in the Fairhill section of North Philadelphia.

At least 50 shots were fired, according to investigators on the scene at Fourth Street and Lehigh Avenue.

It was around 11 p.m. Monday — about the time the store closed — when police said someone opened fire and a car was peppered with bullets in the parking lot area.

A 19-year-old man was killed. Another man and a woman were hit with gunfire and hospitalized. One of the victims worked in the Popeyes, but police did not specify which one.

Police said they found the vehicle that was shot up a few blocks away from the restaurant.

Investigators have not made clear what the motive or who the intended target was.

As of Tuesday morning, there have been 337 homicide victims in Philadelphia so far this year, according to police. That is 13 more than this same time last year — a 4% increase.
