PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia man has pleaded guilty to assault charges after admitting he fired a gun outside a hookah lounge near Temple’s campus during a fight and injured three women.
Eryk Leach-Gilliam, 25, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to three aggravated assault charges and a weapons charge. He was licensed to carry when he pulled his gun out during the fight.
The shooting happened back in March 2023 outside of Hubble Bubble Hookah Lounge near the corner of 10th and Diamond Streets in North Philadelphia. The lounge sits across the street from the Edberg-Olson Football Complex on Temple’s campus, where Temple’s football team practices.
Authorities had said Leach-Gilliam was also shot by the security guard at the lounge, who also pulled out his gun in an attempt to stop him.
Leach-Gilliam is set to be sentenced in August.
