PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man who was being served a protection from abuse order in Northeast Philadelphia intentionally rammed his car into a police SUV, authorities said.
It happened outside an apartment complex near Bustleton and Grant avenues in the Bustleton section of the Northeast.
Police said an officer tried to serve the order to the 40-year-old man around 11:30 Wednesday night, but he ran away. She spotted him again in the same area about an hour and a half later.
When she pulled into the parking lot, the man reversed his car and slammed into her SUV.
He hit the SUV so hard that the airbags deployed. The officer was bruised, but she managed to get out and arrest the man.
He is being charged with assaulting an officer.
The cop was taken to the hospital to be checked out for minor injuries.
