NORRISTOWN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The 53-year-old man who tried to kidnap his estranged wife from a Walmart parking lot last year in King of Prussia, with plans to rape and murder her, will spend at least 15 years in prison.

Geoffrey Kay-Conway is sentenced to 15-to-30 years in prison, in an agreement that was part of his no-contest plea to attempted murder and attempted rape in September, for stalking and harassing his now-ex-wife after she got a protection from abuse order in summer of 2023.

In November of last year, he put a tracking device on her car, then ambushed her in the King of Prussia Walmart parking lot with an ice pick, a PepperBall gun and zip ties. He stabbed her in the leg, but she was able to escape with the help from other people in the parking lot.

At his sentencing, Kay-Conway’s now ex-wife says she believes he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison, but she agreed to the sentence to spare their children a trial.

Prosecutor Lauren Marvel noted the courage of his ex-wife, not only to get out of the abusive relationship, but to confront him in court:

“I think that courage needs to be heard loud and clear for all of the victims in our county that might be wondering if they can do it too.”

Police said Kay-Conway had a copy of the court order for a violation of the PFA. On the bottom, he had written that he had until his next court date to kill her, adding, “what a week (sic) system.”

He had also hidden a duffel bag that investigators said had a family photo album and a letter addressed to his brother, written as though he was already dead. In the letter, he detailed his plans to rape and kill her, then kill himself.

Kay-Conway told the court he’ll always love his wife and kids, and apologized for what he did, his lawyers pointing to mental health and substance abuse issues.
