PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is recovering in the hospital after police said he was shot in the leg near a busy University City intersection.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. near SEPTA's Drexel Station at 30th and Market streets. The 21-year-old victim was shot once in his shin and was taken to the hospital. He's expected to be OK.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Chief Inspector Scott Small said they haven't found a motive for the shooting, but they did get a description of both the suspected shooter and the group of people with them.
"Police did a good job, a few blocks away," said Small. "They stopped two males and a female that fit the description of the group that was involved in the shooting."
At this point, police are working to positively identify them. Small said a gun was recovered from the group. Investigators on the scene found two spent shell casings on the sidewalk, not far from where responders located the victim.
