PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey State Police have apprehended the man accused of trying to abduct a 7-year-old boy from a Wawa in Cumberland County earlier this week.
It happened on May 28 at a Wawa in Dorchester around 12:20 p.m. The boy told police a man approached him in the restroom and offered him candy to leave the store with him.
When the boy said no, the man allegedly grabbed him by the arm. The boy broke free and ran to his mother in the women's restroom.

According to the victim, the suspect entered the Wawa restroom and offered the boy candy to leave with him. The boy declined his invitation, at which point the man grabbed the boy's arm and attempted to physically remove him from the store. The boy immediately resisted, broke free from the man's grasp, and ran to his mother who was using the female restroom. The suspect departed prior to being located by the child's family. Police said on Friday they arrested 79-year-old Thomas Cannon, of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
He is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
