PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man who was wounded in a double shooting tried to drive himself to the hospital and got into a crash with two other cars in Frankford late Sunday night.

It started before 11:30 p.m. on Ditman Street, blocks away from Torresdale Avenue in the Wissinoming section of the city. Police say a 32-year-old man was shot twice in the chest and a 25-year-old woman was hit in the leg during an attempted carjacking.

“No weapons have been found and that’s one of the things we’re looking at. We also were not able to find shell casings,” Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace said.

After the shooting, the wounded man drove off in a silver Mercedes with the intent to go to the hospital. Then, close to a mile away, at Bridge Street and Torresdale Avenue, the man got into a crash with two other cars that had three people in each, police said.

All seven people involved in the crash were taken to the hospital. Some were in stable condition while the rest, including the driver who was shot, were critical.

There were witnesses to the crash and it was captured on one of the city’s real-time crime cameras.
