PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Many people have concerns about the growing role of artificial intelligence and the regulation of the technology.
There are concerns about the dangers of inappropriate use. However, according to an article in the New England Journal of Medicine, AI is already playing a role in everything from genetic sequencing of DNA and RNA to machine learning as a tool for improvement in patient care.
The technology is being examined closely, and there is an awareness of potential downsides and the need for scientific regulation.
In other words, AI can be a valuable tool, but guardrails need to be put in place in the research arena as well.
