PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There are 18 million children in the United States who are unable to be vaccinated. One of the most common questions from parents: When will a vaccine be available for children under 5?
Study after study proves the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines, and few still doubt that the vaccines are safe. The issue is whether they provide enough protection. Two doses are not enough, but will a third improve the effectiveness?
The other question is Whether the series of shots can be given over six months like many other common vaccines. The group being studied are between six months and five years and there is hope the vaccine will be ready by summer.
