PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Through the holidays, along with the excitement that gatherings of family and friends can bring, comes increased potential for danger in the home.

For instance, if you have a Christmas tree, you need to be vigilant to avoid fire. Is the tree stand filled with water?

Also, when you have ornaments and lights, the very youngest children are at risk of swallowing small objects.

Another major concern is access to electrical outlets without safety caps and with loose wires.

Mistletoe and holly add a seasonal flourish, but in a child's hands they can be toxic. Finally, check each and every toy for age requirements. Celebrate, but be safe.
