PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The two men wanted in connection with the first-degree murder of a man on the Schuylkill River Trail in West Norriton last month have been arrested.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office says 23-year-old Cody Reed of Norristown and 23-year-old Marquise Johnson of Philadelphia were arrested by U.S. Marshals Thursday at an Airbnb on North Rhode Island Avenue in Atlantic City for the shooting death of 25-year-old Daquan Tucker on March 3. His body was found around 9 a.m. that day along the Schuylkill River Trail by a bicyclist.

Police say Reed was arrested at the AC rental unit without incident. Johnson barricaded himself inside the unit. The SWAT team entered the building and found Johnson hiding in a washing machine. He was then apprehended.

The District Attorney’s office says Reed and Johnson are being charged with a number of offenses, including first, second and third-degree murder, as well as robbery.

It’s alleged Tucker, Johnson and Reed, all of whom knew one another, were together on the Schuylkill River Trail in Montgomery County. Investigators say on March 2, Reed called for an Uber to pick up Tucker and bring him to Reed’s apartment in Norristown.

Charging documents say cell phone data from Tucker’s phone show him traveling to Reed’s apartment and then moving along the Schuylkill River Trail near the line between West Norriton and Norristown, where Tucker’s body was found. His phone eventually moved back toward Reed’s apartment before the signal ended.

Police say surveillance video shows Johnson and Reed in the same area walking together toward Reed’s apartment. They believe Tucker was shot in retaliation of a robbery with details not yet specified.

Marquise and Reed will be extradited back to Montgomery County to be arraigned.
