PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police have arrested a man in connection with an after-hours lounge shooting that injured eight in South Philly last weekend.
It happened at the 7 Elements bar on 11th Street and Washington Avenue. Police say an argument escalated into a knife fight on the balcony just before 4 a.m. Saturday. As security tried to break up the fight, shots were fired.
All eight people shot were taken to nearby hospitals and placed in stable condition.
One of the security guards, Michael Welton, admitted he had discharged his weapon.
On Friday, Welton, 43, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses.
City officials revoked the nightclub's license following the shooting.
