PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Assault and harassment charges against former sports radio personality Mike Missanelli have been withdrawn.
Missanelli was arrested in April. Lower Merion police responded to his Wynnewood home after someone called 911, then hung up.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Missanelli told police he and his fiancée were in a heated argument, and she struck him in the chest. She said Missanelli slapped her with an open hand.
Police said she had a cut on her forehead and swelling on her ear.
Missanelli was charged with simple second-degree misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment. Those charges were withdrawn at Missanelli’s preliminary hearing on June 24.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said it always continues to investigate after charges are filed, and in this case, additional information led it to the decision to withdraw charges.
Missanelli’s lawyer, Brian McMonagle, had no comment.
