PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The traveling Philadelphia MINI Museum has been named one of the best local museums you've never seen.
Now, Philadelphia International Airport is featuring these small works of art that they hope make a big impact.
From wood and gold-colored frames holding tiny handpanted pictures to pieces of pottery, the MINI Museum exhibition at Philadelphia International Airport features two and three-dimensional works of art, all smaller than six inches.
"We have more than 100 little objects and paintings on view," said Philadelphia International Airport Director of Guest Experience Leah Douglas.
She said people of all ages and all walks of life create these works of art, aiding the MINI Museum's effort to appeal to a broad audience.
"They kept the idea of miniatures, so it seems that people aren't really intimidated to approach it and engage with it," Douglas said.
"It's quite a unique idea that they've come up with for their collecting museum."
She wants these small exhibits in the exhibition to make a big impression on people coming through the airport, especially those visiting the city for the first time.
"The small scale aspect of the exhibition really stands out to people," Douglass added.
"If they could sort of see it from a distance and they can't quite figure out what it is, it will make them more interested in approaching and engaging with it."
