PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A mother has been charged with stealing Philadelphia School District funds intended for therapy for her two children.
State Attorney General Dave Sunday said Laurel Schullere turned herself in on Wednesday.
Authorities said over nine years, the district sent her $61,000 for therapeutic care she said would be provided by a firm named Missing Pieces in Germantown. The attorney general said Schullere never told the district she owned the company, and there is no evidence the company ever performed any work.
Schullere is charged with theft by deception.
