PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man convicted of killing a woman inside a Northeast Philadelphia bar nearly four years ago was sentenced Tuesday morning to 23 ½ to 47 years in prison.
Anthony Nelson, 51, was found guilty in February of third-degree murder by a judge in the shooting death of 21-year-old Jailene Holton.
On June 28, 2022, Holton was inside the Philly Bar & Restaurant on Welsh Road, just off Roosevelt Boulevard, when Nelson — who had been kicked out of the bar after an argument over a pool table — fired more than a dozen times into the building.
Holton was fatally struck in the head.
Nelson was arrested days later at an Atlantic City casino.
He was also convicted of several firearms and reckless endangerment offenses.
