SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Additional charges have been filed against a 29-year-old South Jersey man accused of deceiving teens and young girls into sending him sexual photos and videos online.
The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office said it found hundreds of explicit images and videos on devices owned by Michael Romig, of Commercial Township. Investigators said he pretended to be a teenager on Snapchat and maintained several online relationships with girls between the ages of 10 and 15.
After initial charges were filed on Dec. 13, a Pennsylvania woman contacted police and said her 15-year-old daughter had also sent Romig sexual content.
Romig allegedly told the girl that he was a 17-year-old boy named Jason, but he eventually shared his real name and age and asked her not to tell her parents. The girl’s mother looked up his real name and saw that he was charged with these offenses, so she contacted police.
Authorities said the teen and Romig communicated daily until his initial arrest.
Romig is being held at the Cumberland County Jail and is facing numerous charges.
