PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The Philadelphia region was hit with several more inches of inches of snow overnight. It should be moving out of the area on Thursday morning. Dangerous driving conditions have carried into the morning commute.
Highways and major roads are wet. Neighborhoods are blanketed in a layer of snow and slush. Roads in the area can be slick, and PennDOT is doing what it can to keep drivers safe.
With so much snow over the past couple of weeks, PennDOT's Brad Rudolph says his crews have been busy.
"Constant back-to-back storms -- it’s taxing. We had a little semi-break between the last storm," Rudolph said Wednesday night. "Everyone is ready to go. It starts to take a toll but it’s what we do it’s what were good at.
He says they prepared to take on another round of inclement weather, with pretreated roads and nearly 200 plow trucks on standby. He says, if you can help it, stay safe at home.
However, if you do have to be out: "Have the resources available to you. 511pa.com or the 511 PA app is a great resource. Track plows in your area. Get a visual look at the roadways using our traffic cameras. Know the conditions. Make sure your vehicle is ready clear off any snow ice from your hood, your roof."
He says as always, folks can help plow crews by driving with caution and keeping their distance on the roads.
